Santana: Supernatural (1999-06-15)CD 5" album / Arista / 19080-2 / US Description: Studio album. Includes "Africa Bamba", credited to Ismaila Touré, Sixu Tidiane Touré, Carlos Santana, and Karl Perazzo. This song is a cover version of Touré Kunda's "Guerrilla" (from Salam), with some added lyrics. In May 2000, Touré brothers and former Touré Kunda members Séta and Ousmane sued Carlos Santana for using the Touré Kunda song "Guerrilla" without properly crediting them as authors. The song originally appeared on Touré Kunda's 1990 album Salam, when Séta (formerly Hamidou) and Ousmane were both members along with Ismaila and Sixu Tidiane. The writing credits on Salam include all four brothers. "Africa Bamba" has a few additional words, and is credited to "I. Touré, S. Tidiane Touré, C. Santana & K. Perazzo", but not to Hamidou or Ousmane Touré. The legal action was apparently successful, as the BMI database now reflects Séta and Ousmane as authors of the song along with the others.
