1991-2023: Solo


  • 2023: Nabou Diop participates with Touré Héritage show at New Morning in Paris on October 10 in tribute to Touré Kunda after Ismaïla Touré passes away on February 27.
  • 2008: Nabou Diop releases first solo album Adouna.
  • 2007: Nabou Diop moves to Senegal, opens a dance school and cultural center in Malika, and creates ballet "Saf Sap".
  • 2000: Nabou Diop joins Touré Kunda as opening act with Santana’s European tour.
  • 1994: Nabou Diop choreographs and appears in video for Baaba Maal song "Hamady Boiro".
  • 1992: Nabou Diop choreographs and appears in video for Yannick Noah song "Saga Africa" and tours with Yannick Noah, Ismaël Lô, and Mory Kanté.
  • 1991: Nabou Diop leaves Touré Kunda.

  • 1990: Nabou Diop choreographs video for Armand Frydman song "Pamela Bambou".
  • 1989: Nabou Diop tours with Mory Kanté, appears in video for Mory Kanté song "Yé Ké Yé Ké", and choreographs and appears in video for Alpha Blondy song "Sweet Fanta Diallo".
  • 1988: Nabou Diop choreographs and appears in video for Carmel song "Every Little Bit".
  • 1987: Nabou Diop releases first solo single with songs "Bamboula" and "Adouna", backed by the Touré brothers and members of the Touré Kunda band.
  • 1986: Nabou Diop creates modern African ballet "Saf Tekekou" for three male and three female dancers. Nabou also choreographs and appears in video for Gérard Blanchard song "Elle Voulait Revoir Sa Normandie".

1957-1983: Beginnings


  • 1983: Nabou Diop first dances on stage with Touré Kunda during a memorial concert for Amadou Touré, held in March at Casino de Paris, and two months later joins the group as dancer and later backing vocalist.
  • 1982: Nabou Diop joins Ballet Lemba and performs in music festivals including Africa Fête in June.
  • 1980: Nabou Diop meets the Touré brothers at their shows. Touré Kunda’s manager suggests going to a Congolese ballet called Lemba.
  • 1975: Nabou Diop migrates to Paris, France, to study law.
  • 1957: Seynabou "Nabou" Diop is born (1957-01-20) in Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, of Senegalese origin.

  • Mory Kanté, 1950-03-29 to 2020-05-22: Kora player, vocalist, and recording artist from Guinea. He brought significant attention to the kora.
    • Mory Kanté performed on Touré Kunda album Toubab Bi, and Nabou Diop toured with him in 1989.
