Ismaïl Touré is an emerging artist making afro-reggae music with songwriter Raphael Sankara. Ismaïl is the son of Amadou Touré, who was a key member of Touré Kunda in the early years until his untimely passing while performing on stage in January 1983. Ismaïl grew up in Mauritania and Senegal, and performed in rap groups in both countries. After arriving in Paris in 2000, he provided backing vocals for Touré Kunda on tour. He sings in several African languages, including Mandinka, Fulani, Creole, Wolof, and Soninké. In 2012, Ismaïl released his debut album Dounya. Links: Facebook - Ismaïl Touré Ismaïl Touré |

Touré Kunda: Le Joola, Liaison Ziguinchor-Dakar (2003-10-01)Cassette album / Gadiaga / Senegal Description: Cassette-only benefit album released only in Senegal to support the project "Un Bateau Pour La Casamance". The project was launched by the Touré brothers, Youssou N'Dour, and others, to raise funds for replacement of Le Joola, a ferry boat in the Casamance area of Senegal that wrecked on September 26, 2002, and for the families of the victims. The tragedy took the lives of more than 1,800 people. Touré Kunda also performed several concert dates in support of the project. Ismaïl Touré (son of Amadou Touré) contributed background vocals to this album, although he was not included in the credits. (Many thanks to Ismaïl Touré, December 2014) See Touré Kunda: Studio & Live Albums for more information about the album. |
